It’s Friday. We’ve released TWO episodes of our podcast. We’re riding a wave of excitement, gratitude, and relief. (Phew- we did it!)
To commemorate and celebrate, Smart Rookie co-host Chelsea made us all a special cocktail.
Inspired by the Prohibition-era Lion’s Tail, the Smart Rookie is both easy to assemble and a complex creature, with passionfruit liqueur and the chocolate bitters as the surprise stars of the show.
This is an easily customizable creation, so if you don’t have everything on hand, that’s alright. A mixologist isn’t going to show up in your kitchen and chide you, we swear.
The Smart Rookie
2 ounces bourbon
1/2 ounce allspice dram
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce Chinola (passionfruit liqueur)
2 dashes Aztec Chocolate bitters
Shake with ice, strain, and serve in a coupe glass with an orange twist.
The Smart Rookie cocktail is best paired with good company and this Smart Rookie Party Playlist:
While we can’t actually hang out with you all in person, we thought some music and a delicious cocktail recipe would be the next best thing. Consider this our virtual launch party.
We held a live event in October, and it was an absolute blast. Please let us know if you want to do a Smart Rookie meetup in the future!

Cheers and thanks again for being part of this thing. We wouldn’t be here without you.
